Job summary

Plant Design I/O seeks an Instrument & Controls P&ID Validation Specialist to verify instrumentation and control information for client P&ID walkdown projects. You will review work from the walkdown team and ensure consistency with DCS, SIS, and safety system data.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with process instrumentation, P&IDs, and control loops, and can identify discrepancies across multiple technical sources.

Qualifications

• Experience as Instrument Technician or similar instrumentation role.
• Strong knowledge of industrial instrumentation and process control.
• Experience reading P&IDs.
• Experience with pressure, temperature, flow and level.
• Experience with control valves and field instrumentation.
• Knowledge of DCS information and safety systems.
• Familiarity with safety systems (SIS/ESD).
• Ability to document findings clearly and concisely.
• Ability to work on-site in an operating facility with safety compliance.

Responsibilities

• Review P&ID walkdown markups and field documentation for instrumentation and control information.
• Validate instrument tags, instrument types, control valves, loops, and symbology.
• Review DCS information to verify instruments and control functions on P&IDs.
• Review SIS and safety system data to validate related instrumentation.
• Compare P&ID information against instrument indexes, I/O data, datasheets, and docs.
• Identify incomplete or incorrect information and document discrepancies.
• Communicate needs for additional field verification to the walkdown team.
• Resolve conflicts with client instrumentation, controls, and operations teams.
• Verify corrections and maintain traceable validation records.
• Follow client safety, security, and documentation requirements.
