Job summary

Southeastern Freight Lines in Baton Rouge, LA is seeking a local CDL driver to pick up, transport, and deliver freight within the region. You will interact with customers daily, perform pre-trip inspections, and ensure accurate documentation, including hazmat handling when required.

Requirements include a minimum 6 months of driving experience (1 year preferred), a valid CDL with HAZMAT, Tanker, and Twin Trailers endorsements, and the ability to read maps and logs.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months driving experience; 1 year preferred.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• CDL with Hazmat, Tanker, Twin Trailers endorsements; no automatic restrictions.
• At least 21 years old.
• Ability to read, comprehend, and write in English; perform simple mathematical calculations; read maps and road signs; maintain driving logs.
• Knowledge of DOT rules, safety regulations, hours of service, inspections, and hazmat transport.
• DOT physical qualifications and passing alcohol and drug tests.

• Operate a tractor‑trailer, driving in various conditions and performing vehicle operations such as coupling, uncoupling, connecting lines, and adjusting equipment.
• Conduct vehicle inspections and manage the loading and unloading of cargo.
• Ensure the accuracy and compliance of transport documents, especially when handling hazardous materials.
• Maneuver in challenging environments, including heavy traffic and tight spaces.
• Report incidents or delays and adhere to all safety regulations and company policies.
• Focus on excellent customer service and professionalism.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 6 months driving experience; 1 year preferred.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with endorsements for HAZMAT, Tanker, and Twin Trailers, with no automatic restrictions.
• At least 21 years old.
• Ability to read, comprehend, and write in English; perform simple mathematical calculations; handle receipts; read maps and road signs; and maintain driving logs.
• Detailed knowledge of and compliance with all Department of Transportation (DOT) rules, regulations, and guidelines, including safe driving, hours of service, vehicle inspections, and transportation of hazardous materials.
• Meeting DOT physical qualifications and passing alcohol and drug tests.

Pay

$94,731–$103,332 annually (average annual pay may vary based on experience, hours, and location).
