Job summary

Pocahontas Center is seeking an Occupational Therapist Assistant to support an Occupational Therapist in providing high-quality therapy to residents. The OTA will help implement individualized plans and assist in evaluating functional abilities.

The position requires an OTA degree, strong communication, and the ability to work independently as part of a team. 30 hours per week, Monday–Friday with weekend rotation, onsite.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in OTA program completed or in progress.
• Experience in skilled nursing facility or long-term care preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.

Responsibilities

• Assist the OT in evaluating residents and developing treatment plans.
• Implement treatment plans with therapeutic exercises and modalities.
• Monitor progress and report changes to the OT.
• Educate residents and families on home exercise programs.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care.
• Maintain accurate records of sessions and progress.
• Follow state and facility policies and procedures.

Position: Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA)

Salary Range: $25-28 per hour

Hours: 30 hours per week, Monday-Friday with weekend rotation

Job Description:

As an Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA) you will work closely with our Occupational Therapist to provide high-quality therapy services to our residents. Your primary responsibility will be to assist in the implementation of individualized treatment plans for residents with physical, mental, and developmental disabilities. You will play a crucial role in helping our residents regain their functional abilities and improve their overall well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist the Occupational Therapist in evaluating residents' functional abilities and developing individualized treatment plans
• Implement treatment plans under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist, including therapeutic exercises, activities, and modalities
• Monitor and document residents' progress and report any changes to the Occupational Therapist
• Educate residents and their families on therapeutic techniques and home exercise programs
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care for residents
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of treatment sessions and resident progress
• Adhere to all state and federal regulations and facility policies and procedures

Qualifications:

• Associate's degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant program
• Previous experience in a skilled nursing facility or long-term care setting preferred
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care
• Basic computer skills and proficiency in electronic medical records
