Job summary

AAA Northern California is seeking a P&C Insurance Sales Agent in Monterey, CA. This full-time role focuses on selling property and casualty insurance, reviewing client needs, and recommending coverage with the goal of expanding the AAA insurance book.

You will work to meet sales targets, engage in outbound marketing, and provide exceptional member service while leveraging a competitive incentive plan and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 3–5 years of relevant insurance industry experience required.
• Active and unrestricted state license(s) required to place property and casualty insurance.
• Proficient with desktop software including Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Identify customer needs using sales techniques and product knowledge to generate new sales and grow the insurance book of business.
• Meet or exceed targets as defined in the sales incentive plan.
• Conduct insurance reviews to identify suitable products, quote, bind and issue policies.
• Establish rapport with insured customers to enhance loyalty to the AAA brand.
• Solicit and market to business/community events; perform outbound calls; cross-sell/up-sell to customers.
• Respond to inquiries related to insurance products and membership; assist with first notice of loss on claims.

Essential Functions

• Uses sales techniques and strong product knowledge to identify customer-specific needs to generate new sales, retain existing insureds and grow our overall insurance book of business. Effectively overcomes objections to close the sale and/or retain the insured.
• Works to meet or exceed targets as defined in the sales incentive plan and as assigned by the Insurance Agent’s manager.
• Conducts an insurance review for clients to identify a range of suitable products. Uses provided tools and applicable underwriting guidelines to assess risk, recommend appropriate products and related coverage, quote, bind and issue policies.
• Establishes rapport with the insured that enhances the member’s affinity to the AAA brand and results in greater member satisfaction and loyalty.
• Proactively solicits and markets to business and/or community events, performs outbound calling, works marketing lists, and cross-sells/up-sells new and existing customers.
• Responds to customer inquiries and requests relating to insurance products and membership.
• Researches and resolves complex customer service issues. Often assists the insured in initiating the first notice of loss on claims.

Knowledge and Skills

• Strong sales skills with a history of effectively developing, tracking, following up on and closing leads.
• Advanced consultative selling techniques utilizing thorough product knowledge.

Education & Experience / Licenses & Certification

• High School Diploma
• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• 3-5 years of relevant insurance industry work experience required.
• Possess active and unrestricted state issued license(s) required to place property and casualty insurance.
• Knowledge of desktop systems including but not limited to Microsoft Office software applications.

This is a commission based role on top of guaranteed hourly base rate of pay of $17.17 plus commission/bonus. Potential compensation range could average from $90,000 - $250,000.
