Job summary

Worldwide Flight Services (WFS) is hiring a Technician to serve as the main responder to emergencies and to perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical and mechanical systems. This role will coordinate staff, provide technical guidance, and ensure safety and contract compliance during non-operational hours while supporting both the ramp and cargo operations.

  • HS Diploma, GED or Equivalent.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule for a 24/7 operation including nights, weekends, and/or holidays.

  • Must be able to attain and sustain an Airport I.D. Badge.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience working on jet bridges.
  • Electrical training/industrial maintenance experience.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair machinery and electrical equipment per diagrams and manuals.
  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Communicate with stakeholders on work performed and status of systems.
  • Analyze root causes of electrical failures and implement remedies.
  • Interpret schematics for layout and operation of systems.
  • Respond to control room calls and manage service calls (CM/PM/EM).
  • Perform preventive maintenance and document follow-up work orders.

Job Summary
The Technician is the main responder to emergency situations. They carry out preventive and corrective maintenance for the electrical and mechanical system. This will be done during the dwell periods in between the flights and in the other non-operational hours. Technician coordinates the activities of personnel engaged in meeting or exceeding the delivery of service mandated by the company, customer, and contractual requirements. Highly motivated individual that can supervise and motivate operational personnel. Provides technical guidance as required. Ensures work is progressing according to contract requirements and in compliance with established standards related to safety, security, and other personnel related matters. Train and mentor employees in performance of their assigned duties. Assist General Manager, evaluate performance standards of assigned employees. Coordinate activities of staff and customers relative to specification changes, modifications, and quality assurance. Monitors adherence to good housekeeping, safety regulations and takes appropriate corrective actions to correct unsafe work practices or hazardous situations. Performs other duties, which may be deemed necessary by management. The scope of the job may vary with the size of the operation and its primary line of business.

Responsibilities
Seeking experience with Commercial Roll Up Garage Doors specifically.

  • Maintain superior customer service and safe working practice at ALL times.
  • Troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains machinery and electrical equipment such as motors, electrical circuits, SICK ATR systems, baggage handling equipment and conveyor systems in accordance with diagrams, electrical drawings, operational manuals and manufacturer’s specifications using hand tools and precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Inspect diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Communicate with various parties on the work performed and present status of specialty systems.
  • Analyze root causes of Electrical failures and propose remedy and resolution as well as continuous monitoring for ways to improve and optimize the system.
  • Interpret schematics and engineering drawings in reference to layout, location, and operation of the system(s).
  • React to call outs from the Control Room Operator or manager executing service calls CM, PM and EM.
  • Preventive Maintenance – Inspection, adjustment, cleaning, replacement and prepare follow-up CM work orders if needed.
Minimum Requirements
  • HS Diploma, GED or Equivalent
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Valid driver's license
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule for a 24/7 operation including nights, weekends, and/or holidays
  • Background check and drug screen required
  • Must be able to attain and sustain an Airport I.D. Badge
  • Minimum 5 years' experience working on jet bridges.
  • Electrical training and experience in an industrial environment or minimum 2 years' experience as maintenance mechanic
Preferred Skills
  • Hands on working knowledge of PBB and GSE systems with the ability to do PM’s, troubleshoot and repair.
  • Working knowledge of PBB and GSE support equipment such as HVAC, GPU’s, Potable Water Systems, Vehicle Electrical System Troubleshooting.
  • Ability to interpret schematics and electrical drawings related to the equipment being maintained.
  • Ability to resolve PLC issues.
  • Ability to work with little supervision.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
  • Employees work in the assured management areas of baggage, at repair stations, in and around jetbridges, or at airfields and often must meet strict deadlines to maintain flight schedules.
  • Employees will be working with and exposed to the baggage handling system, jetbridge, mechanical parts, and vibration.
  • Employees may be exposed to various noise levels due to aircraft engines and equipment.
  • Employees bend, lean, and frequently reach ladders and scaffolding.
  • Employees are required to regularly speak and hear.
  • Employees are often required to reach with their hands and arms.
  • Employees may be required to perform a variety of activities that could include standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crawling, and climbing throughout their day.
  • Employees frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds with the help of teammates.
  • Employees will lift parts and tools for long periods of time and handle equipment such as transportation systems.
