Job summary

Wegmans is seeking a warehouse selector for our distribution team. You will accurately select products for Wegmans stores, using attention to detail and teamwork to ensure on-time, correct shipments.

Work schedule features overnight shifts (four 10-hour days). You may work with pallet jacks, forklifts, and Vocollect to assemble pallets and audit orders for accuracy. A strong emphasis on safety and cold-chain integrity is required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of quality standards/specifications for products.
• Ability to perform order audits for accuracy and quality.
• Knowledge of cold chain requirements for loads with temperature controls.
• Lift weight of 20-25 pounds on average; up to 50+ pounds occasionally to frequently.
• Overnight shifts may be required (4x10-hour shifts).

Responsibilities

As a warehouse selector on our distribution team, you’ll help deliver exceptional service by accurately and efficiently selecting products for Wegmans stores, using your attention to detail and teamwork skills to ensure success.

Work schedule: Overnight positions consist of four 10-hour shifts per week

What You'll Do

• Ensure pallets of product are built safely and efficiently in a manner that minimizes product damage in transportation and maximizes trailer space


• Safely operate equipment necessary to perform job duties; this may include a forklift, pallet jack, and/or Vocollect


• Perform order audits to determine accuracy and quality


• Maintain knowledge of all quality standards/specifications and requirements for all products


• Inform operations management of daily quality issues using reports as well as other forms of necessary communication


• Maintain the integrity of the cold chain on loads that have temperature requirements


• May work in and have exposure to cold temperatures; lift weight of 20-25 pounds on average with maximum weight lifted greater than 50 pounds occasionally to frequently

Preferred Experience

• Previous experience with operating a pallet jack, forklift, and Vocollect

Note: Frozen positions earn an extra $2.00/hour

Work Environment:

The physical demands of this work are classified as heavy. Work includes prolonged walking and standing and frequent heavy lifting, repetitive hand and arm movements, bending and reaching, including reaching and lifting above shoulder height, in order to assemble store orders in a variety of warehouse settings in a fast paced environment. Work also involves moving containers or cases onto pallets and/or into shipping containers for distribution to the stores. The average weight range of items lifted is 20 – 25 pounds with maximum weight lifted greater than 50 pounds occasionally to frequently. May receive assistance with heavy items, if available. Upper extremity repetition is moderately high and trunk movement involves moderately high to high twisting, bending, and pivoting. May be exposed to various allergens (things that may cause an allergic reaction). The work environment is indoors with ambient (60° – 85°) temperatures and may involve exposure to cold (33° – 55°) and/or freezing (-20° – 20°) temperatures. Protective clothing is provided. Basic tools and equipment used include powered pallet jack, pallets, fork truck, pallets, shipping containers and labels, computerized picking system, and headset.; Experience operating a pallet jack
