Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in North Dallas, TX seeks an experienced Overnight Veterinary Technician to join our emergency team. The role offers a sign-on bonus of up to $2,000 for qualified candidates and a chance to advance skills in a fast-paced hospital environment.

You will induce, monitor and recover anesthesia, triage emergencies, perform radiography, monitor vitals, and support doctors with critical care while mentoring teammates. A passion for animal care and client service is essential.

Qualifications

• Qualified veterinary technician with emergency/overnight experience.
• Proficient in anesthesia monitoring and patient vitals.
• Skilled in phlebotomy and placing IV catheters.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients.
• Triage emergency cases and obtain vitals.
• Perform digital radiography with proper technique.
• Interpret vital signs and alert Veterinarian as needed.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Calculate medical dosages and administer medications.
• Mentor and train co-workers and colleagues.
• Provide compassionate client communication.

This role is eligible for a sign-on bonus of up to $2,000 for qualified candidates!

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
• H ave a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
