BluePearl Pet Hospital in Grand Rapids is a premier specialty and emergency pet hospital serving West Michigan. We offer a $2,500 sign-on bonus to qualified licensed technicians. We seek a full-time LVT or Veterinary Assistant to support our emergency department and grow with our team.

You will work alongside highly skilled veterinarians and nurses, with opportunities to develop skills in anesthesia, radiology, and critical care for hospitalized pets.

Qualifications

• Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) or eligible for Veterinary Assistant role.
• Experience in emergency care desirable.
• Ability to monitor anesthesia and triage emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia and use monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergencies and monitor vitals (temp, HR, RR, BP).
• Perform digital radiography with proper patient positioning.
• Understand normal vitals and alert Vet to changes.
• Draw blood pressure and other vitals; interpret results.

Our specialties include Emergency, Internal Medicine, Oncology, Surgery, Ophthalmology and Neurology!

BluePearl is looking for a remarkable full-time LVT or Veterinary Assistant to support our emergency department. Our emergency and ICU staff can focus on outpatient care or dedicate their skills to hospitalized patients that have been admitted through our specialties.

At BluePearl Pet Hospital, the role of Veterinary Technician is an exciting, fast-paced opportunity that will allow you to utilize the skills that you have worked so hard to gain. We will also give you the chance to expand and grow your skills, all while working alongside some of the most talented veterinary professionals.

As An Emergency Veterinary Technician, You Will

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.


• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.


• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.


• Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.


• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.


• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.


• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.


• Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.


• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.


• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.


• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
