Job summary

Meijer is seeking a store leadership professional in Ohio to plan, direct and supervise daily operations across departments. You will mentor staff, drive customer service excellence and sales while maintaining store standards and a positive image.

The role includes staffing, development of team members, managing shift coverage and ensuring training completion. Strong communication and financial awareness are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Retail management experience is required.
• 2–3 years of related retail experience.
• One year of management experience.
• Strong communication and conflict-resolution skills.
• Ability to analyze financial and sales data.
• Experience with staffing and training.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct and supervise team members in day-to-day operations within various departments.
• Serve as mentor and coach for all team members.
• Improve customer service and drive store sales while meeting customer needs.
• Maintain store appearance with focus on prime shopping hours and product presentation.
• Ensure a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and team members.
• Responsible for staffing, selection and hiring to meet staffing needs.
• Promote succession planning by providing career paths and development for team members.
• Document disciplinary actions and make recommendations concerning discharge.
• Be responsible for P&L, achieving sales and maintaining shrink for the department.
• Model exceptional, fast and friendly customer service.
• Communicate the Meijer Friendly Initiative in team meetings.
• Mentor and coach team members to exceed service and sales goals.
• Ensure the team is thoroughly trained in all aspects of their jobs.
• Spend majority of time within the store communicating with customers and team members.
• Promote a safe work environment.
• Maintain reliable and consistent attendance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Be Doing:

What You Bring With You (Qualifications):

• High school diploma or its equivalent required.
• 2–3 years of related retail experience.
• One year of management experience.
• Rotational assignments in other areas of the store such as meat, bakery, produce and deli; customer service and product flow experience is helpful.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate to team members in the organization in a way that provides clear and precise direction.
• Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict and address root‑cause issues.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information and use that information to make informed decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to teach suggestive selling.
• Demonstrated ability to lead an organization that practices working safely at all times.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor team members in all areas of the organization, including SDITs, team members in hourly positions and team leaders.
• Successful completion of all required certifications.
