Job Overview

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate greets customers, maintains a clean work area, presents merchandise, and follows all company best practices. They assist customers at the register and throughout the store, respond to customer service calls, and support loss prevention and brand integrity.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safety and create a secure environment by keeping the floor clear, reporting unsafe conditions, and following safety procedures.
• Greet every customer with eye contact, a smile, and friendly communication, saying "hello" and "thank you" during all interactions.
• Assist customers with merchandise, answer questions, and handle all register transactions accurately and efficiently.
• Clean and maintain the store, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, replenishing restroom supplies, and disinfecting high‑touch areas.
• Perform daily merchandising duties: sizing and recovery, expediting new merchandise to floor, maintaining monthly presentation guidelines, and ensuring merchandise/brand familiarity.
• Follow loss‑prevention protocols, MOS policies, and Company protection standards.
• Safeguard confidential information, cash, credit card data, and merchandise; conduct all cash, check, charge‑card, and refund transactions per policy.
• Demonstrate integrity, honesty, and professionalism at all times while representing the Ross brand.
• Follow all store best practices to maximize productivity and minimize steps in workflow.
• Present a professional appearance and adhere to the dress code.

Qualifications

• Effective communication with customers, associates, and store leadership in a friendly, respectful, and pleasant manner.
• Ability to perform basic math calculations commonly used in retail environments.
• Physical ability to stand, walk, and move up to 100 % of work time; bend, squat, kneel, lift up to 25 lb occasionally, and use store equipment such as PDTs, registers, PCs, janitorial equipment, and ladders.
• For stockroom shifts, ability to push, pull, and lift more than 20 lb.

Physical Requirements / ADA

Ability to use all store equipment, spend the entire work shift standing or walking, routinely bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop, occasionally push, pull, and lift over 25 lb, and use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies. Certain assignments may require additional qualifications and skills.

Compensation

The base pay range for this role is $18.50 to $19.00 per hour. The range depends on factors including experience, skills, qualifications, relevant education, certifications, seniority, and location. The base pay is one component of the total compensation package for employees. Other rewards vary by position and location.
