Job summary

The Vet Service in Baltimore, MD seeks a Small Animal Emergency Veterinarian for overnight care from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM. Applicants should be DVM/VMD with Maryland license and DEA registration, plus at least one year in veterinary emergency, with strong diagnostics, surgery, and communication skills.

The role offers consistent overnight scheduling, incentives up to $75,000, and comprehensive benefits including health, 401(k), and CE support.

Qualifications

• DVM, VMD or equivalent recognised veterinary qualification.
• Current Maryland veterinary licence.
• Active DEA registration or ability to obtain and maintain one.
• At least one year of veterinary emergency experience.
• Strong diagnostic, surgical, communication and critical-care skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide overnight emergency care from initial assessment through diagnostics, treatment, surgery and ongoing monitoring.
• Manage urgent and complex cases with diagnostics, treatment and surgery.
• Communicate clearly with pet owners and collaborate with veterinary technicians and clinical colleagues.
