Job summary

CooperRiis in Asheville, North Carolina is seeking an Overnight Full-Time Registered Nurse (RN) to join our residential mental health recovery team. You will develop care plans, administer medications, monitor residents, and collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, and other professionals to support treatment and safety during night shifts.

We welcome both experienced nurses and new graduates with an active NC license or a compact license.

Qualifications

• RN license NC or compact license is required.
• Previous psychiatric experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Developing individualized care plans with a multidisciplinary team.
• Educating residents about mental health conditions and treatment plans.
• Take vital signs daily and perform nursing assessments.
• Provide basic first aid when necessary.
• Administer medications as prescribed and monitor effects.
• Assist residents with medication self-administration screening.
• Collaborate with on-site physician for follow ups.
• Respond to crises using de-escalation techniques to ensure safety.
• Maintain accurate resident records.

CooperRiis is a voluntary residential mental health treatment facility that does not provide detox services. We take a holistic approach to care, emphasizing the health and wellness of both our residents and our staff.

Our Nursing Team plays a vital role in this journey. They have the time and space to build meaningful relationships with residents, offer personalized education, and provide individualized support throughout the recovery process.

Schedule:

• Monday - Thursday 10:30 pm - 8:00 am- 38 hours per week

Pay:

• RN starting at $31.00 - $36.58 per hour based on experience
• Shift differential for 3 rd shift

Responsibilities:

• Developing individualized care plans with a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, therapists and other health care professionals
• Educating residents about mental health conditions and treatment plans, including coping strategies, self-care techniques, medications and supplements, and medication compliance.
• Take vital signs daily and perform nursing assessment
• Provide basic first aid when necessary
• Administer medications as prescribed by the psychiatrist and monitor patients for side effects and responses to these medications.
• Weekly packing of medications with residents, and to determine eligibility for resident self-administration of medications
• Assesses residents with physical and mental health complaints and collaborate with the on-site physician for follow up actions
• Administer random breathalyzer and urine drug screening
• Provides crisis intervention and assists with hospitalization when necessary
• Communicate with Integrative Health Specialist regarding supplements, dietary concerns, and additional weight monitoring
• Responds to crises, using de-escalation techniques to manage behavioral emergencies and ensure patient safety
• Maintains accurate and detailed resident records

Qualifications:

• RN NC or compact license
• Previous psychiatric experience preferred
