Job summary

Guardian Pharmacy in Knoxville, TN, part of the Guardian family through East Tennessee Pharmacy Services, seeks a pharmacist to join our growing team. You will prepare medications, review orders, verify safety, and exercise clinical judgment for dispensing.

Expect a Monday–Friday schedule with overnight hours, a starting salary of $122k–$130k, and a comprehensive benefits package. This role emphasizes accuracy, collaboration, and regulatory compliance within a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy or PharmD is required.
  • State Pharmacist License required without restrictions.
  • Minimum 1 year of related experience.
  • Advanced computer skills; pharmacy operations system experience preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Great attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment working on multiple tasks with strict deadlines.
  • Quality minded; willing to seek out and correct errors.
  • Medical consulting experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately prepare medications for final dispensing, including filling, entry, and packaging.
  • Review completed orders and cycle-fill medications for accuracy.
  • Verify legality and feasibility of dispensing based on allergies and drug interactions.
  • Interpret prescriptions with professional judgment for safety and legality.
  • Adhere to Federal and State Board of Pharmacy regulations.
  • Adhere to guidelines for compounding.
  • Transfer prescriptions to other pharmacies as needed.
  • Answer questions from patients, doctors, nurses, etc.
  • Evaluate inventory levels and place orders when below par.
  • On exception items, find cost-effective products to order.
  • Notify customers/facilities when out of stock and update fill dates.
  • Restock station supplies as needed.
  • Oversee technicians and provide feedback to supervisor.
  • Log all error medication occurrences.
  • Other essential duties as needed.

East Tennessee Pharmacy Services, a member of the Guardian family of pharmacies, has an exciting opportunity to join our rapidly growing team.

Schedule: Monday - Friday 12am-8am, no weekend/holidays

Starting Salary Range: $122k-$130k

Essential Job Functions
  • Accurately prepare medications for final dispensing to the patient, including filling, order entry, and packaging
  • Review completed orders and cycle-fill medications to ensure prescriptions were filled correctly
  • Verify the legality and pharmaceutical feasibility of dispensing a drug based on patients' allergies, incompatibilities with current medications, frequency of refills, etc.
  • Interpret prescription orders, exercising professional judgment in determining whether to dispense a particular prescription, taking into account patient safety and legal limitations.
  • Adhere to all Federal and State Board of Pharmacy regulations
  • Adhere to all applicable guidelines for compounding
  • Transfer prescriptions to other pharmacies as needed
  • Answer questions from patients, doctors, nurses, etc.
  • Evaluate inventory levels and place orders when below par
  • On exception items, look up most cost-effective product to order
  • Notify customer/facility if product is out of stock and when the order can be filled
  • Restock station supplies as needed – vials, cassettes, labels, delivery tickets, etc.
  • Oversee the work of all technicians and give feedback to their supervisor regarding their performance
  • Log all error medication occurrences
  • Other essential functions and duties may be assigned as needed
Education And/or Certifications
  • Bachelor's Degree (Pharmacy) or PharmD. required
  • State Pharmacist License required without restrictions
