Sweeping Corporation of America (SCA) is seeking an Overnight Parking Lot Sweeper for a full-time, 3rd shift position in Oak Park, MI. The role includes operating a parking lot sweeper, performing safety inspections, and delivering essential street cleaning services to customers.

The position offers $16-18 per hour with eligibility for a first pay increase at 6 months, plus minimal travel. This is a full-time on-site role with benefits and a strong safety culture at SCA.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School or GED.
  • Experience: 1 year driving experience preferred.
  • License: Driver’s License.
  • Age: Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Compliance: Must maintain an acceptable driving record and pass MVR, background check, DOT physical, and drug screening.

Responsibilities

  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of equipment.
  • Review routes and complete jobs within the allotted time with quality.
  • Operate parking lot sweeper safely and in accordance with laws and procedures.
  • Handle materials safely and correctly; apply proper disposal procedures.
  • Report equipment issues or safety concerns within 30 minutes.
  • Maintain professional communication with team members and clients.
  • Complete required logs, manifests, and forms.
  • Adapt to changes and maintain regular attendance.

COMPENSATION: $16-18 / Hour - Eligible for first pay increase at 6 months.

  • Safety & Inspection: Perform required pre-trip and post-trip inspections of equipmentin accordance withcompany standards. Ensure all safety features are operational before beginningroute.
  • Execution: Review assigned routes thoroughly prior to departure. Be proactive in asking clarifying questions if the route or expectations are unclear. Complete assigned jobs within the allottedtimeframewhilemaintaining expected quality and attention to detail.
  • Equipment Operation: Operate equipment safely and efficiently at all times, following all traffic laws, company safety procedures, and site-specific protocols.Exerciseadditionalcaution during inclement weather or challenging site conditions.
  • Material Handling: Handle materials safely and securely; Apply correct procedures for material types and disposal sites.
  • Reporting: Report any equipment issues, malfunctions, near misses, crashes, or injuries within 30 minutes or as soonas safelypossible. Immediately elevate opportunities, work issues, or safety concerns to management.
  • Professional Communication: Maintaina professional attitude and appearance whilerepresentingthe company on job sites or in public areas. Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and clients when needed.
  • Compliance & Documentation: Accurately complete required logs, manifests, and forms.
  • Adaptability & Problem Solving: Respond appropriately to changes and challenges;identifyand solveissues timely.
  • Regular & Predictable Attendance: The ability to consistently report to work on time and as scheduled, with minimal unexcused absences. This includes being present and prepared to work throughout assigned shifts, and reliably adhering to start times, breaks, and end times.

  • Work Environment & Exposure: Constant work outdoors with regular exposure to weather, elements, and traffic; occasional exposure to loud noise, dust/debris, and jarring conditions; limited exposure to chemicals.
  • Physical Demands: Frequent sitting and walking/standing; occasional bending, twisting, squatting, kneeling, pushing/pulling; limited stair climbing and crawling; ability to lift and carry up to75lbs at varying heights, including overhead.
  • Cognitive & Sensory Requirements: Continuous reading, screen use, mental focus, and hand-eye coordination throughout the workday.
  • Equipment & Tools: Operation of specialized equipment and use of hand controls, foot controls, and fine motor skills.
  • Safety & Protective Gear: Requireduse ofappropriate PPE, including high-visibility apparel, eye, ear, hand, foot, head, lung, and skin protection.
