Job summary

The Kensington Bethesda is seeking an Overnight LPN to join our team in Bethesda, MD. This full-time/regular position supports Assisted Living and Memory Care residents with medication management and nursing care under a medical provider's direction.

Licensure as an LPN is required, with 1–2 years of nursing experience preferred. Per diem, full-time, and part-time schedules are available; weekend coverage is required. Compensation ranges from $31.00 to $38.00 hourly based on experience.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Maintain medication inventory, monitor expirations and proper labeling/storage.
  • Adhere to controlled substance procedures and proper disposal of meds.
  • Monitor med administration and report concerns to nursing leadership.
  • Ensure Resident medication records are accurate and documentation is complete.

Salary: $31.00 - $38.00, based on experience

Licenses / Certifications: Licensed Practical Nurse, required.

Schedule: Perdiem / Full-Time & Part-Time, Every other weekend

Summary:

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) / Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) provides direct nursing care to Residents and supports the health and wellness program within the Community . This role is responsible for supervising and coordinating medication management, meeting the standards of nursing care, and clinical management of community Residents under the direction of a medical provider .

Duties and Responsibilities:

Prepare and document medication and assist Residents with the administration or self-administration of prescribed medications in accordance with individual Medication Administration Records (MAR) .

Maintain organized medication carts to support accurate and efficient medication passes , in accordance with regulatory guidelines .

Maintain medication inventory, monitor expiration dates, and ensure medications are properly labeled and stored in accordance with established policies.

Adhere to controlled substance procedures and ensure the proper disposal of discontinued , expired, contaminated, or excess medications .

Monitor medication administration and report any concerns regarding administration instructions or potential adverse drug interactions to the Director of Nursing .

Ensure Resident medication records are accurate, complete, and that all required documentation is maintained.

  • Assist with Resident evaluations and treatments, implement clinical orders as directed by nursing leadership, and report changes in Residents' physical or mental conditiontothe Resident's medical provider, responsible party, Director of Nursing Services , and appropriate leadership staff.
  • Assist Director of Nursing Services with scheduling and follow up on physician appointments and ensure medication orders are accurately recorded and carried out.
  • Ensure Resident records are accurate and up to date . Complete and sign required documentation, including Resident Care Notes, MAR, and incident reports, providing appropriate follow-up as needed . Maintain confidentiality of Resident and Community information .
  • Conduct interviews and evaluations of Residents to identify care needs, monitor and document changes in medical condition or behavior and assist with re-evaluation to support appropriate care plan adjustments . Complete skin integrity checks as scheduled and report findings to the Director of Nursing Services or designee .
  • Work closely with Residents, families, staff, and healthcare providers, acting as the primary liaison with Residents' supervising physicians .
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of emergency procedures and respond to all emergency situations . Perform first aid and/or CPR, if required .
  • Participate in the move-in, transfer, and discharge planning of Residents .
  • Direct neighborhood Team Members and Residents in executing emergency and disaster procedures during drills and actual events .
  • Per guidance from the Director of Nursing Services, attend and participate in workshops, seminars, and training programs related to the health care industry . Participate in professional development activities as required . Maintain professional certification .
  • Provide daily reports to the Director of Nursing Services concerning Community conditions, Resident conditions , and needs for nursing supplies .
  • Report any suspicion or evidence of elder abuse, mistreatment, or neglect as outlined in company policy .
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing Services .

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skill:

Minimum of 1-2 years of nursing experience, preferably in senior living, assisted living, or long -term care .

Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license in good standing in the state of practice .

Must have excellent computer skills, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, electronic health record, and other technology management systems .

Strong knowledge of geriatric care practices, dementia care, chronic disease management, and Resident-centered care models.

  • Knowledge of applicable Federal and State health care and employment regulations .
  • Ability to write reports , business correspondence, procedure manuals and effectively present information and respond to questions from Managers, Team Members, Residents, families, and the public .
  • Must be able to communicate with people of all ages clearly and proficiently , while maintaining an energetic and positive attitude . Must be able to communicate, read, and write in English and follow verbal and written instructions .
  • Ability to perform calculations related to budgets, staffing requirements, medication dosages, and measurements, including percentages and area .
  • Strong clinical evaluation and observation skills .
  • Strong time management and organizational skills .
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced care environment while maintaining high standards of care and compliance .
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the Community for extended periods of time while performing job duties .
  • Ability to lift, move, or assist with Residents' items or equipment up to 25-50 pounds occasionally .
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends, evenings, and holidays .
