Job summary

All American Pet Resorts New Bern is hiring an Overnight Kennel Technician. You will care for dogs and cats, feed, medicate, walk, bathe, and supervise play while maintaining a clean, safe facility. Overnight shifts require alertness, reliability, and a passion for animal welfare.

Join Our Team as an Overnight Kennel Technician!

Are you passionate about working with animals and ensuring their safety and well-being? Do you have professional experience handling dogs and a keen eye for understanding their behavior? If so, we’d love to have you on board! Our pet resort specializes in dog and cat boarding, dog daycare, and grooming, and we’re looking for a dedicated Overnight Kennel Technician to join our team.

What You’ll Do

As an Overnight Kennel Technician, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring the health, safety, and happiness of the pets in our care. Your responsibilities will include:

• Pet Care Duties:
• Perform AM feeding and administer medications according to protocols.
• Conduct last PM and first AM walks for every dog in the facility.
• Switch cats to the play area every two hours.
• Provide baths to dogs as scheduled, ensuring their safety in tubs and dryers.
• Monitor dog behavior, identifying routine, aggressive, or abnormal behaviors and acting accordingly.
• Facility Maintenance:
• Perform nightly walkabouts and address any issues immediately.
• Ensure kennels and floors are clean and free of standing water.
• Complete PM play yard cleaning and sanitation following protocol.
• Replenish grooming and cleaning supplies as needed.
• Customer and Administrative Tasks:
• Check pets in and out of the resort using our computer system, ensuring invoices are accurate.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with customers.
• Security and Emergency Response:
• Maintain pet resort security during your shift.
• Take emergency action when necessary, including transporting pets to an emergency vet if required.

What We’re Looking For

To succeed in this role, you’ll need the following skills and qualifications:

• Experience: At least 1 year of professional dog handling experience is required.
• Knowledge:
• Strong understanding of dog body language and behavior.
• Ability to distinguish routine behaviors from aggressive or abnormal ones and describe them accurately.
• Physical Skills:
• Ability to move pets safely inside and outside the building.
• Availability:
• Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and peak boarding times as requested.
• Ability to remain at the resort for the entire shift.
