Job summary

ABM Industries is seeking a Journeyman Engineer in Oakland, CA to ensure efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of building systems. You will troubleshoot issues, perform preventative maintenance, and coordinate with contractors to keep the facility safe and compliant.

The role includes an overnight shift, Local 39 benefits, pension, and 401(k). Candidates should have 3–5 years in building engineering or related fields and relevant tech certifications.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree or technical certification in building systems preferred.
• 3–5 years of experience in building engineering, facilities management, or related field; data center experience preferred.
• EPA Universal Certification for refrigerants preferred; relevant trade licenses or certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
• Address and resolve building system malfunctions promptly to minimize disruptions.
• Respond to service requests and emergencies during and after business hours.
• Escort vendors and coordinate service calls with internal teams and external contractors.
