Job summary

BJ’s Wholesale Club in New York is seeking a forklift operator to move merchandise safely and efficiently. You’ll inspect equipment, load and unload trucks, stock floor areas, and ensure the club remains neat and organized while assisting Members.

This role offers weekly pay, free BJ’s memberships, generous PTO, health benefits, a 401(k) with company match, and an employee stock purchase plan. Training and certification are required, and you must be 18 or older.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities

• Operate a forklift in a safe and efficient manner. Inspect forklifts prior to use and follow established safety standards.
• Load and unload merchandise and materials to and from delivery trucks. Inspect and prepare delivery trucks for unloading.
• Accurately receive all merchandise and materials delivered to the club.
• Lifts, reserves and drops pallets of merchandise to and from the overhead steel and the sales floor. Prepare pallets for safe reserving by wrapping, strapping, stacking, labeling, and correcting broken pallets.
• Transport merchandise, material and pallets safely throughout the club. Utilize a pallet jack as needed.
• Stock, rotate, and store general merchandise and food merchandise. Ensure that merchandise is fully stocked. Handle damaged and spoiled merchandise in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Ensure the club is neat, clean, and organized. Perform general maintenance duties including removing trash and cardboard from the club.
• Participate in daily club openings and closings. Return merchandise back to the sales floor.
• Greets all Members. Provides Members with prompt and courteous service and assistance. Assists Members in locating merchandise.
• Maintain all club policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned and work in other departments as needed.

Environmental Job Conditions

Most of the time is spent standing, moving around continuously on hard surfaces. There may be a need to frequently position oneself to examine and/or scan merchandise, including bending, climbing, crawling, handling, pulling, reaching, and stooping. Frequently requires lifting objects up to 30 pounds. May require lifting and moving heavy and/or awkward objects more than 30 pounds with assistance. Usually in a comfortable environment surrounded by moving machinery and/or loud equipment that may require shouting in order to be heard. Occasional exposure to temperature extremes in freezer or cooler units. There may be occasional exposure to cleaning agents.

Pay Transparency

In accordance with the Pay Transparency requirements, the following represents a good faith estimate of the compensation range for this position. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, education, experience, and qualifications. The pay range for this position is $18.75 - $22.97.
