Job summary

Overland Park Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Hospital, part of Ethos Veterinary Health, is seeking an experienced Registered Veterinary Technician to join our Overnight Emergency team in Overland Park, KS. This full-time role offers the chance to work with board-certified specialists on a diverse emergency caseload using advanced equipment in a 24-hour facility.

Qualifications

• Current Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) credential required.
• Experience as a Veterinary Technician in a hospital setting.
• Experience or strong interest in emergency and critical care.
• Fluent English speaking and reading skills required.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality patient care as a Licensed Veterinary Technician on the Overnight Emergency team.
• Monitor and care for emergency and critical patients throughout the overnight shift.
• Assist veterinarians and board-certified specialists with emergency procedures, treatments, diagnostics, and patient care.
• Perform and assist with technical procedures, treatments, medication administration, catheter placement, sample collection, and patient monitoring within your scope of practice.
• Monitor hospitalized patients and promptly communicate changes in patient condition to the veterinary team.
• Utilize advanced imaging, monitoring equipment, and other technology to support emergency and critical care.
• Prioritize and manage multiple patients in a fast-paced Emergency and specialty hospital.
• Maintain accurate patient records and document treatments, diagnostics, and changes in patient status.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with clients and team members regarding patient care.
• Maintain a calm, compassionate, and professional approach when working with patients and families during stressful or emotional situations.
• Work collaboratively with veterinarians, Veterinary Technicians, and other overnight team members to provide consistent patient care.
• Participate in ongoing learning and development opportunities to expand your emergency and critical knowledge and technical skills.
• After gaining appropriate knowledge and experience, train, coach, mentor, and teach newer Veterinary Technicians and team members.
• Contribute to a supportive team environment focused on quality medicine, patient care, and continuous learning.
