BluePearl Pet Hospital in Brentwood, TN is seeking an experienced Overnight Emergency Veterinary Technician. The role covers Sunday, Monday and Wednesday shifts from 7pm to 7am, with pay ranging from $21.00 to $41.00 per hour depending on experience and leveling.

The successful candidate will work with a team of technicians, ER doctors, and specialists, providing care to critically ill or injured pets and contributing to a culture of continuous learning and professional development.

Qualifications

• Experience as an emergency veterinary technician.
• Ability to perform physical exams and monitor vitals.
• Proficiency in phlebotomy and IV catheter placement.
• Strong communication with clients and team.

Responsibilities

• Performs physical exams and monitors vitals.
• Alerts doctor when abnormal vitals are detected.
• Performs phlebotomy and places IV catheters.
• Reads and follows treatment orders accurately.
• Monitors medications and therapeutic responses.
• Discharges patients and communicates discharge instructions.
• Maintains clinical terms for collaboration.
• Addresses client concerns during visits or calls.
• Implements animal husbandry to prevent disease spread.
• Provides nursing care for stable patients.
• Assists with anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Maintains CPR readiness per RECOVERY guidelines.

BluePearlPet Hospital** in Brentwood, TN is hiring experienced Overnight Emergency Veterinary Technicians.**

Shift: Sunday, Monday and Wednesday. 7pm-7am

Pay: $21.00 - $41.00 / hour

This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through our leveling system.

We also offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked for nights and weekends.*Shift differentials are based on a 4-hour minimum.

Weekday Night (Mon-Fri 6P to 8A): $3.00

Weekend Day (Sat-Sun 8A-6P): $3.00

Weekend Night (Sat-Sun 6P-8A): $4.50

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Performs physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.

• Understands normal vital parameters and alerts doctor when abnormal.

• Performs phlebotomy.

• Ability to place peripheral intravenous catheter in cephalic vein.

• Able to read and follow orders written on treatment sheet accurately and in a timely manner.

• Alerts veterinarian if a patient’s status has changed and/or physical exam or monitoring parameters are outside of normal ranges.

• Calculates basic medical math.

• Understands classification of commonly used medications, associated side effects and appropriately monitors therapeutic response.

• Administers medications via appropriate routes and duration.

• Prepares medications and patient for discharge and communicates discharge instructions to client.

• Maintains solid grasp of common veterinary medical terms and abbreviations and can converse with other veterinary professionals in medical terms.

• Able to address client concerns and answer them appropriately during visits, updates, or after hospitalization, for their skill set. Quickly and competently facilitates incoming calls.

• Implement appropriate animal husbandry skills to decrease disease spread, injury and stress to patients.

• Provides nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.

• Possesses a working knowledge of anesthesia/monitoring equipment and assist with patients assigned ASA I or II classifications.

• Remains current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R CPR guidelines and demonstrates proficiency in designated role as assigned by attending clinician and/or supervisor.
