Job summary

Cornell University Hospital for Animals in Ithaca, NY is seeking an experienced Emergency Veterinarian to join our staff. The role provides emergent care for dogs and cats in a dynamic teaching hospital, with a 3-doctor overnight team and on-call specialists.

This position offers opportunities for advanced ECC training, collaboration with faculty and house officers, and involvement in teaching DVM students.

Qualifications

• DVM/VMD with a rotating internship or at least 1 year of emergency experience.
• Applicants with a minimum of 2 years companion animal practice experience with less than one year of emergency experience will also be considered.
• Thrive in the fast-paced clinical environment of a busy ER.
• Demonstrate excellent communication skills with clients, team members, and local referring veterinarians.
• Interested in a team approach to high-quality emergency medicine.
• Have a growth mindset while providing leadership and experience.
• Excited about hands-on teaching of DVM students in our academic, multi-specialty practice.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality emergent care to client-owned animals in a dynamic teaching hospital.
• Work with our strong team of ECC-boarded specialists, residents, interns, and licensed veterinary technicians dedicated to the emergency practice.
• Teach and mentor DVM students as part of our multi-specialty practice.
• Engage in research and new diagnostic and treatment modalities.
• Work 12 dedicated ER shifts per month with an overnight schedule.
