Animal Emergency Clinic North East in Humble, TX seeks an Emergency Veterinary Assistant/Technician to support veterinarians and ensure top-tier patient care. Overnight shifts are available, with duties spanning diagnostics, treatments, and hospital care for pets.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required
• 2 - 3 years of experience in a fast paced veterinary hospital setting or emergency experience

Responsibilities

• Obtain initial patient information, medical histories, vaccination records, and the reason for the pet’s visit
• Must be able to multitask in a fast-paced high stress environment
• Perform diagnostics, treatments, and administer medications
• Maintain vitals and treatments on hospitalized patients
• Maximum productivity delivery of quality, compassionate, effective, and efficient health care to pets
• Prep and monitor patients in surgery - pre-op, during, and post-op
• Provide the owners education, resources and information on how best to care for pets in general regarding emergencies
• Monitor, record, and report the physical condition and vital signs of the hospitalized patients
• Clean and disinfect cages, runs, and treatment areas
• Perform and set up procedures (IV catheters, urinary catheters, fecal catheters, thoracic/abdominocenteses)
• May administer medication (IV, IM, SQ, orally), perform IDEXX diagnostics, and fill prescriptions
• Provide professional, efficient, quality care and exceptional service to clients while maintaining
• Support a practice environment that promotes collaboration and teamwork
• Comply with all practice policies, quality assurance guidelines, and minimum standards of care
• Perform other duties as requested
