Job summary

Aramark in Ashburn, VA is seeking an Overnight Custodian to maintain clean, safe, and orderly environments at the Janelia Research Campus. You’ll perform housekeeping tasks with integrity and attention to detail, supporting guests and staff while upholding safety standards.

The role is 2nd shift: 5pm – 1am, with hourly compensation of $15.00–$21.00 and benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and paid time off. Prior cleaning experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Past cleaning experience preferred.
• Attention to detail is required.
• Ability to communicate effectively with clients, senior management, and Aramark support staff.
• Ability to respond effectively to changing demands.

Responsibilities

• Maintains friendly, efficient, positive customer service demeanor toward customers, clients, and co-workers.
• Maintains all assigned areas and corridors in a clean, neat, and sanitary manner to protect safety and health.
• Inspects and selects cleaning techniques as per orientation guidelines.
• Demonstrates safe use of housekeeping equipment and solutions as observed by supervisor.
• May disinfect and sterilize equipment and supplies as needed.
• Keeps cart stocked and ensures chemicals are labeled and equipment works properly.
• Promotes professional relationships and maintains conduct at all times.
• Assists in improving productivity and efficiency of the department.

Compensation Data

COMPENSATION: The Hourly rate for this position is $15.00 to $21.00. If both numbers are the same, that is the amount that Aramark expects to offer. This is Aramark’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the compensation for this position as of the time of posting.

Job Responsibilities

• Maintains friendly, efficient, positive customer service demeanor toward customers, clients, and co-workers. Is adaptable to customer needs.
• Maintains all assigned ancillary and department areas and corridors in a clean neat and sanitary manner, to protect safety and health of others and in compliance with accurate preventative maintenance procedures as outlined in department policy.
• Inspects and uses judgment in determining which cleaning techniques outlined in orientation guidelines to follow.
• Demonstrates efficient and safe use of housekeeping equipment and solutions as observed by supervisor.
• May disinfect and sterilize equipment and supplies, using germicides and sterilizing equipment.
• Diligently employs universal precautions when disposing of trash and bio-hazardous materials.
• Keeps cart properly stocked with equipment and cleaning supplies; ensures all chemicals are accurately labeled, and all equipment is in good working condition.
• Promotes effective interpersonal and interdisciplinary relationships, maintains professional conduct at all times.
• Assists in improving productivity and efficient operations of the department.
• Demonstrates commitment to professional growth and competence by adherence to component and departmental training commitments.
