Job summary

People USA in Poughkeepsie, NY is seeking a Certified Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC or CASAC-T) for the Stabilization Center, a 24/7 walk-in hub providing crisis counseling and addiction treatment.

The Per-Diem CASAC will provide direct services to individuals and families, assist in assessments, treatment planning, and discharge planning, and work with an interdisciplinary team to support guests.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and CASAC/CASAC-T certification required.
• Two years of experience in behavioral health settings.
• Knowledge of EMR and community resources.
• Valid driver's license and schedule flexibility.
• Ability to pass background checks.
• Experience with co-occurring populations is preferred.
• Professional ethics and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Addresses referrals from community providers, including warm hand-offs.
• Coordinates services and referrals for guests leaving the Center.
• Provides care collaboration, advocacy, and therapeutic services to guests and families.
• Works with guests, community providers, team members, and external partners.
• Demonstrates cultural competency and commitment to guests.
• Supports programmatic goals and outcomes as per agency contracts.
• Maintains accurate guest records and reporting.
• Provides crisis intervention services and safety planning.
• Offers psychoeducation on chemical dependency, relapse prevention and harm reduction.
