Job summary

YMCA is seeking a Camp Nurse to support the Health Center operations for campers and staff, under the Health Center Director. This role focuses on medical care, safety, and well-being while collaborating with volunteer physicians and nursing staff.

The nurse will triage, document, and administer medications, participate in twice-daily sick calls, and rotate night duty, ensuring clear communication with parents and staff.

Qualifications

• Must be a Registered Nurse with an active North Carolina Nursing License or equivalent.
• Minimum 1–3 years nursing experience; pediatric experience preferred.
• Active CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

• Assist Head Nurse with health center operations and camper/staff care.
• Manage medication administration and chart all care provided.
• Triages, assesses, and treats illnesses and injuries.
• Document calls, visits, and care per policy; maintain health records.
• Support nurses, physicians, and volunteers in clinic operations.
• Rotate night duty and respond to urgent care needs.
• Communicate effectively with families and staff; participate in health system activities.
• Sanitize and maintain health center to meet safety standards.
