Qualifications

  • Journeyman Lineman experience or overhead electric crew background preferred.
  • 2+ years safety-focused experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of OSHA rules and regulations; DOT awareness is a plus.
  • Ability to train and support field personnel on safety practices.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee safety for assigned overhead electric work areas.
  • Provide mentorship, coaching, and guidance to foster a safe workplace.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and regulatory changes.
  • Serve as a liaison for agency inspections and inquiries.
  • Lead incident investigations and trend analyses; develop preventive controls.
  • Maintain HSE performance data and lead safety trainings.
  • Monitor PPE testing and equipment safety for overhead electric construction.

Job Title: Overhead Electric Field Safety Representative

Position Overview

Full‑time, non‑union, salary exempt role responsible for overseeing assigned work areas and providing support for personnel training, safety inspections, and other HSE activities related to the company, client, or regulatory compliance.

Essential Job Responsibilities
  • Work with Overhead Electric Department Managers and Foreman to provide employee mentoring, coaching, and guidance to foster an incident and injury‑free workplace.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, and stay informed of proposed regulatory changes and safety emphasis programs.
  • Serve as a contact for agency inspections and inquiries.
  • Conduct or assist in investigations of incidents, injuries, and near‑misses.
  • Analyze industry workplace incident/injury/near‑miss trends and frequencies, especially those associated with assigned work area and company operations.
  • Assist Safety Management and Operations Team in developing and implementing preventive measures and controls based on incident findings and root‑cause analysis.
  • Maintain HSE performance reporting data for the assigned work area.
  • Lead and facilitate training and presentation on HSE performance, incidents, and trend/analysis data at crew engagement sessions.
  • Monitor frequency and ensure regular testing of rubber gloves and sleeves, protective cover‑up, protective grounds, mechanical jumpers, fall protection harnesses, dielectric testing of electrical equipment, and other overhead electric construction tools and equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Required Skills / Knowledge
  • Associate’s Degree in safety science or a related field (preferred).
  • Experience as a Journeyman Lineman or on an overhead electric crew (preferred).
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a safety‑related role (preferred).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic understanding of underground gas and electric distribution construction practices (preferred).
  • Knowledge of DOT and overhead electric tooling and equipment and ability to provide training and support in these areas.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety rules and regulations.
