Job summary

Asplundh Tree Expert, LLC is seeking an Overhead Distribution Journeyman Lineperson to join our team in maintenance and construction of overhead distribution systems. The role is focused on linework from aerial devices, with responsibilities spanning from pole setting to transformer connections and safety compliance.

The position requires 18+ years of age, a valid driver’s license, a DOT medical card within 90 days, and willingness to travel out of state for emergency storm work.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Familiar with building two and three transformer bank poles.
  • Able to work with hands above head for extended periods.
  • Safely enter and exit aerial devices and bucket trucks.
  • Meet weight restrictions for bucket trucks as identified by manufacturers.

Responsibilities

  • Install and repair overhead distribution lines and equipment from aerial device.
  • Excavate to assist in installation of structures or cables.
  • Make primary connections and terminations.
  • Assist with assembling materials on the ground for installation.
  • Make secondary connections at transformers.
  • Assist with pulling in new wire and sagging.
  • Assist with replacing and setting new poles.
  • Maintain safe job site conditions and communicate with property owners.

Overhead Distribution Journeyman Lineperson

We are currently seeking Journeyperson Lineperson to join our Utility Lines Construction Services, Inc. team in the Overhead Distribution Construction and Maintenance to assist with construction and maintenance of overhead

Essential Functions & Responsibilities
  • Works from aerial device installing and repairing overhead distribution lines and equipment
  • Excavates to assist in the installation of structures or cables as required by contract specification.
  • Makes primary connections and terminations
  • Assists with assembling material on the ground to be installed by lineperson and assists with the installation.
  • Makes secondary connections at transformers
  • Assists with pulling in new wire and sagging
  • Assists with replacing and setting new poles
  • Working hours are typically 10 hours per day.
  • Works from the ground and clears all work areas to maintain safe job site conditions.
  • Will have contact with public and private property owners to communicate the work to be performed.
  • Participates in company training of all regional safety guidelines and is required to perform all work by the regional safety policies.
  • Operates various tools for the work (manual digging devices, wrenches, hammers, drills, come-along, jackhammer, power tamp, and handling, etc.).
  • Works around excessive noise from machines, jackhammers, chainsaws, and other equipment with proper hearing protection.
  • Works around hazardous and near energized parts or equipment.
  • All other duties as required or requested by Supervisors.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Familiar with building two and three transformer bank poles.
  • Able to:
    • work with hands above head for extended periods of time.
    • meet and maintain weight restrictions for bucket trucks as identified by truck manufacturers.
    • safely enter and exit the aerial device and rear-end of the bucket and derrick trucks
    • effectively cover up to safely complete work on energized lines, and equipment
    • work efficiently and effectively from heights.
    • follow directions, work safely & productively
    • work long hours and overtime during holidays, emergencies, weekends, etc. Subject to call-out work.

Education & Experience
  • 4+ years of trade experience required.
Pre-Screen
  • Upon offer, employees may be required to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, background, and/or MVR check.
License & Certifications
  • DOT medical card is required within 90 days of employment.
  • Valid commercial driver's license preferred within 90 days of employment.
  • A Valid Driver's License is required.
Travel Requirements
  • Must be willing to travel out of state for emergency storm work.
Physical Requirements

  • CONTINUOUS(up to 100%): standing, speaking clearly, seeing, hearing-speech range, color vision, lifting up to 10 lbs.
