Job summary

Lone Star Materials, Inc. in San Antonio, TX is seeking an Outside Sales I to participate in a comprehensive program that covers branch operations, delivery processes, and inside sales, while building deep product knowledge across drywall, insulation, metal studs, ceilings, tools, and safety items.

The role includes leading the sales process from lead generation to close in an assigned territory and implementing the marketing plan.

Qualifications

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills and ability to self-manage are required.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; knowledge of Excel is preferred.
  • Experience in supplier relationship management and the building materials industry is a plus.

Position Summary

The primary function of the Outside Sales I is to participate in a development program to master all functional areas necessary to perform as an Outside Sales Representative for Cowtown Materials, Inc. These functional areas will range from basic branch operations and delivery processes to inside sales and deep product offering knowledge. Product offering training will be given in the following areas: building materials including drywall, insulation, metal studs, ceiling systems, construction tools, construction safety items, drywall compound, and accessories for the drywall industry. The Outside Sales I will also be expected to perform the basic outside sales activities from lead generation through close in an assigned territory, as well as develop and implement the agreed upon Cowtown marketing plan.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Responsible for mastering all steps of sales process, including preparing action plans by accounts and product line, effective search and follow-through of sales leads and new customers Understand how to identify and execute on opportunities for up-sell and cross-sell Establish rapport with customers, building long-term, repeat customer relationships Responsible for generating new business, making sales, and obtaining orders Be proficient in product knowledge to assist the customer in buying decisions Provide timely and accurate competitive pricing on all completed prospect applications submitted for pricing and approval
  • Maintain accurate records of sales activity, sales, and pricing Gather competitive market and pricing information Understand material warehousing and delivery processes. Master the customer invoicing process and oversee company adherence to such processes. Assist with scheduling, coordination, preparation and processing of physical inventory. Research and reconcile inventory discrepancies. Assist with pricing issues and change requests.
Basic Qualifications
  • Strong Microsoft office skills
  • Ability to self-manage is critical, as well extensive experience in all aspects of supplier relationship management. Knowledge of building materials and construction industry strongly preferred Bachelor’s degree is preferred Knowledge of and experience with Excel preferred Core Competencies: Strive to do the right thing by displaying trust and integrity. Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position in an office environment 70% of the time. Will frequently move about inside the office to access files, office machinery, etc.
  • Must be able to operate basic office machinery.
  • Must be able to communicate with team and management and be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. Regularly working outside of the office environment to meet with customers and generate new business
