Job summary

Mutual Trading Co., Inc. in Southern California is seeking an Outside Sales Associate fluent in Korean and English to drive sales and build customer relationships. Base pay plus commission, with full health, dental, and vision coverage for employees and dependents.

The role requires visiting customers, meeting quotas, coordinating with accounting for payments, and delivering strong service. Evening or weekend inventory counts may be required.

Qualifications

• Business level English—read/write/speak/listen.
• Has and maintains a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
• 2+ years of Food and/or Sales experience preferred.
• Knowledge of ERP systems, especially AS400, highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Meets monthly and annual sales quota as designated by the manager.
• Visits customers and potential customers to provide support and sell the Company’s products.
• Coordinates with the accounting department to ensure timely payment collection.
• Maintains high levels of customer satisfaction by providing excellent service and building rapport.
• Responds to and communicates with all customers in a timely manner.
• Coordinates urgent deliveries with customers.
• Educates customers on product benefits.
• Inputs and updates orders in the Company database.

Established in 1926, Mutual Trading Co., Inc. was originally a small co-op organization for centralized purchasing of basic import foods to service the needs of the early Japanese immigrant society in Southern California. We've grown nearly 100 years now, and command a premiere position among Japanese foodservice suppliers, as well as fill a key role as "Culinary Ambassador" promoting Japanese foods worldwide. Currently, we import, manufacture, and distribute over 8,000 Japanese foods, beverages, restaurant equipment and supplies.

Base pay + Commission

Hours: M-F: 8AM – 5PM

Essential Job Functions

• Meets the monthly and annual sales quota as designated by the manager
• Visits customers and potential customers to provide support, information, and sell the Company’s products
• Coordinates with the accounting department to assure the collection of payment in a timely manner
• Maintains high levels of customer satisfaction by providing excellent service and building rapport
• Responds to and communicates with all customers in a timely manner
• Coordinates urgent deliveries with the customer to accommodate their needs
• Educates customers on how the products or services can benefit them
• Inputs and updates orders within the Company database accordingly
• Maintains and safely navigates the Company vehicle as per the Company Vehicle Policy
• Participates in the weekly sales meetings
• Attends semiannual inventory count on designated day, possibly on a weekend
• Attends Company events and functions outside of normal working hours
• Other duties as assigned
• Obligation to answer to all management as requested

Physical Requirements

• Able to drive for a majority of the daily working hours
• Able to work without sitting for extended periods of time, including standing and walking
• Able to reach, bend, kneel, and lift up to 25 pounds frequently and 50 pounds occasionally
• Able to use the phone for extended periods of time
• oNoise Level: Normal to loud while in the office

Other Requirements

• Able to adapt to frequent changes in assignments and workload
• Passes the Sake Adviser course within 1 year of employment
• High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree and above preferred
• 2+ years of Food and/or Sales experience preferred

Knowledge and Skills

• Demonstrates strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Possesses basic mathematical knowledge such as markups, discounts, counting inventory, weight and measurement conversions, combining, etc.
• Has strong customer service and problem-solving skills
• Has strong communications and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrates basic Microsoft Office proficiency
• Knowledge of ERP systems, especially AS400, highly preferred
• Knowledge of Japanese foods and liquors preferred
