Qualifications

• Must have experience as an Outside Machinist or equivalent.

• Experience installing, aligning, repairing, and testing mechanical systems on ships.

Responsibilities

• Install, align, and repair ship machinery including propelling machinery, pumps, motors, ventilation equipment, and steering gear.
• Work from blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to complete precision mechanical installations.
• Lay out passage holes on bulkheads, decks, and structural surfaces for shafting and steam lines.
• Align reduction gears, bearings, shafting, propellers, rudders, and steering engine assemblies.
• Use hand tools, calipers, micrometers, and alignment instruments to ensure accuracy.
• Support ship construction across shipyard environments and be available for all shifts in a 24/7 operation.

What You'll Do

• Install, align, and repair ship machinery including propelling machinery, pumps, motors, ventilation equipment, and steering gear.
• Work from blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to complete precision mechanical installations.
• Lay out passage holes on bulkheads, decks, and structural surfaces for the installation of shafting, steam lines, and related systems.
• Align reduction gears, bearings, shafting, propellers, rudders, and steering engine assemblies.
• Use hand tools, calipers, micrometers, and alignment instruments to ensure accuracy and reliability.
• Support ship construction across diverse shipyard environments and be available to work any shift in a 24/7 manufacturing operation.
