Job summary

Tennessee Valley Coalition for the Homeless seeks an Outreach Manager in Knoxville, TN, with travel across our 12-county East Tennessee service area. You will lead street outreach operations, supervise coordinators, and support our Mobile Shower Trailer program to connect people with housing resources.

You'll work hands-on with individuals experiencing homelessness, build community partnerships, transfer client data to HMIS, and ensure service quality while coordinating across TVCH’s service

Qualifications

• Minimum 1–2 years in outreach or nonprofit work.
• Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
• Comfort working directly with individuals experiencing homelessness.
• Basic computer and data entry skills.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel across TVCH’s service area.
• Ability to work outdoors, stand for extended periods, and travel by vehicle.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and move items as needed.
• Reliability, flexibility, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Enter client information into HMIS and review staff documentation for accuracy.
• Maintain client confidentiality and comply with grants and HUD requirements.
• Organize and distribute donated supplies and recruit volunteers.
• Represent TVCH at community meetings and events.

About the Position

TVCH is seeking an Outreach Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our Street Outreach program and support our Mobile Shower Trailer program.

This is a hands-on leadership role combining direct client services, staff supervision, outreach coordination, and community partnerships. You will work directly with individuals and families experiencing homelessness, helping them access essential supplies, housing resources, healthcare, and other community services.

Working closely with the Director of Outreach, you will support outreach staff, coordinate activities across our service area, and help ensure consistent, high-quality services.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage daily Street Outreach operations and supervise, train, and support Street Outreach Coordinators.
• Provide direct outreach services, including essential supplies, referrals, and connections to housing and community resources.
• Plan and coordinate outreach activities throughout the 12 counties served by TVCH.
• Support Mobile Shower Trailer scheduling, event setup and breakdown, client services, and partner coordination.
• Drive, transport, and assist with the safe operation of the Mobile Shower Trailer when needed.
• Build relationships with churches, nonprofits, government agencies, service providers, and other community partners.
• Enter client information into the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) and review outreach staff documentation for accuracy and completeness.
• Maintain client confidentiality and ensure staff follow organizational policies, program procedures, HUD requirements, and applicable grant requirements.
• Help receive, organize, track, and distribute donated supplies.
• Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers supporting outreach and shower trailer events.
• Represent TVCH at community meetings, presentations, partner events, and other public-facing opportunities.
• Work with the Director of Outreach and other staff to identify program needs and improve services.

Qualifications

• One to two years of experience in outreach, human services, nonprofit work, or a related field preferred.
• Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
• Comfort working directly with individuals experiencing homelessness.
• Basic computer and data entry skills.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel throughout TVCH’s service area.
• Ability to work outdoors, remain on your feet for extended periods, and spend several hours a day in a vehicle.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and repeatedly lift and move smaller items.
• Reliability, flexibility, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
