Clinica de Salud del Valle de Salinas in Salinas, CA is seeking a program assistant to implement the farmworker Health and Family Program for migrant and seasonal workers. You will work under the Outreach Director and management to coordinate health services.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Provide translation between languages as needed.
  • Attend meetings to learn available social services and share with farm workers.
  • Develop simple English/Spanish surveys to assess needs.

  • Prepare health education presentations on hypertension, diabetes, TB, and pesticide exposure.

Job Details: Job Location: CSVS Administration - Salinas, CA 93901, Salary Range: $30.44 - $50.16 Hourly, Job Summary: Assumes responsibility for implementing the farmworker Community and Family health Program for migrant and seasonal Farmworkers operated by Clinica de Salud del Valle de Salinas. Works under the supervision of the Outreach Director and other Management personnel.

Demonstrates Competency in the Following Areas:

  • Maintains established office policies and procedures, objective, performance improvements programs, safety, environmental infection control standards.
  • Answers telephone calls in a professional manner, directs calls appropriately.
  • Maintains a good working relationship with all staff members of the office, working as a team and performing teamwork duties as needed.
  • Managers and operates equipment safely and correctly.

  • Provides administrative support to the Director of Human Resources and Associate HR Director, as needed.

  • Provides accurate translation from one language to the other.
  • Reading or listening to given materials for translation.
  • Attend inner-agency and/or community meeting to become familiar with the social services available. Disseminate this information to farm workers.
  • Develop or update a simple survey in English/ Spanish (or other language as appropriate) to assess the basic social and medical farm worker needs.
  • Provide referrals (i.e.., medical care, medicine, social services) and follow up
  • Prepare and conduct culturally and linguistically appropriate health education presentations on hypertension, diabetes, tuberculosis, pesticide exposure, and other topics identified by farm workers.
  • Map (or update existing maps) area migrant housing served by CSVS.
  • Document farm worker encountered statistics, using appropriate forms.
  • Compile (or update) a manual on social services and health agencies in the area that
  • Assists farmworkers.
  • Visits with farmworkers where they live and gather share health information.
  • Counsels and inform the patient population about the medical and dental services available to them through CSVS.
  • Continually remains informed of changes to programs and eligibility requirements to include but, not limited to SOFP, VFC, BCEDP, EAPCS, Medical, Medicare, etc.
  • Assists in scheduling of patients for services at clinics throughout the country.
  • Brings patient concerns to the attention of the administration and providers.
  • Keeps Outreaching Coordinator informed of local community events.
  • Maintains a good working relationship within the department and with another department.
  • Ensures documentation meets current standard and policies.

Regulatory Requirements:
  • Bachelor
  • Degree in Sociology, Psychology Human Services, or related field.
  • Minimum of one year work experience in public contact job, preferably service relayed.
  • Experience or interested in healthcare.
  • CPR BLS certification current and expired.
  • Automobile, valid driver’s license and adequate insurance required.
