Job summary

Advocate Health seeks a qualified athletic trainer to provide clinical athletic training services at collegiate and professional events, and to support on-site medical care and emergency response.

Working within the Sports Medicine Team, you will perform on-site evaluations, rehabilitation planning, return-to-play decisions, and maintain meticulous treatment logs and equipment readiness for practices and games.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in athletic training from a CAATE-accredited program.
• Current athletic training certification by the BOC.
• Licensed or eligible for state licensure within 30 days of hire.
• BLS CPR/AED certification within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide athletic training services at collegiate and/or professional events to support community service goals.
• Assist with event coverage as part of the Sports Medicine Team to meet departmental goals.
• Provide acute medical care to athletes on the field during practices or events.
• Deliver clinical athletic training services in local clinics as needed.
• Perform on-site recognition, evaluation, and immediate care for illness and injury, regardless of setting.
• Conduct clinical injury evaluation and assess function using standardized clinical reasoning.
• Determine therapeutic treatments and rehabilitation, along with bracing and taping as required.
• Implement treatment objectives with long- and short-term goals and measure progress.
• Collaborate with the directing physician and determine return-to-play status.
• Maintain daily treatment logs, injury reports, referrals, and inventory.
• Ensure practice and game setup includes necessary supplies and equipment.
• Assist with departmental planning, policy implementation, and EMS coordination.
• Provide lectures or seminars as needed and mentor students in athletic training programs.

Education

Bachelor's degree in athletic training (CAATE program)

BOC Certification

State license eligibility or licensure in Athletic Training

American Heart Association Healthcare Provider (BLS) CPR/AED within 30 days
