Job summary

InterCare Community Health Network is seeking a full-time Outpatient Therapist to join our Benton Harbor Health Center. You will provide CBT and other evidence-based practices to children, adolescents and adults within a primary care setting, helping improve psychosocial functioning and overall health.

Licensed clinicians with LLMSW/LMSW/LPC credentials in Michigan are required; starting salaries range from $57,600 to $73,800 annually, with a comprehensive benefits package and a supportive team

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or Human services field; LLMSW, LMSW, LPC or LLP licensure in Michigan (CAADC development plan or CAADC eligibility).
• Clinical experience delivering mental health services in a community-based setting.
• Experience with Motivational Interviewing and CBT.

Responsibilities

• Provide consultation and assistance to medical providers on behavioral health concerns in primary care and help implement the team-determined treatment plan.
• Conduct comprehensive screenings to evaluate the needs of adults, adolescents, and children for behavioral health intervention or ongoing mental health or addiction treatment; provide referrals when appropriate.
• Provide behavioral interventions to engage and motivate patients to actively manage their care; conduct follow-up; provide crisis management as needed and make linkages for interventions.
• Provide Individual Psychotherapy, Group and Family Psychotherapy as needed.

Requirements

The Outpatient Therapist provides integrated behavioral health services to patients currently receiving primary care services. As a licensed clinician, the Psychotherapist will provide CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and other EBPs (Evidence Based Practices) to improve patients’ psychosocial functioning and health, as well as Mental Health and SUD disorder treatment services to children, adolescents and adults.

Description of Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide consultation and assistance to medical providers on the management of behavioral health concerns in primary care and help implement the team-determined treatment plan.
• Conduct comprehensive screenings to evaluate the needs of adults, adolescents, and children for behavioral health intervention, case management, or ongoing mental health or addiction treatment. Provide referrals for more intensive services where appropriate.
• Provide behavioral interventions to engage and motivate Patients to actively manage their care. Conduct follow-up as appropriate based on assessment and treatment. Provide crisis management for patients as needed; make linkages for interventions as appropriate.
• Provide Individual Psychotherapy, Group and Family Psychotherapy as needed.

Professional and Technical Knowledge

• Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or Human services field. Must have LLMSW, LMSW, LPC or LLP (limited licensed psychologist) licensure in Michigan. Must be on CAADC development plan or have CAADC (Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor).
• Clinical experience with provision of mental health services in a community-based setting.
• Knowledge of health information related to adults, adolescents and/or children.
• Knowledge of, and experience working in, a primary care facility as a mental/behavioral health specialist preferred.
• Experience with Motivational Interviewing and CBT.
• Possesses excellent cross cultural communication skills and the ability to communicate to staff members at all levels

Physical Demands

Job duties are performed in the typical office environment of the organization, which requires ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations. The environmental factors and/or physical requirements of this position include the following:

• Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, frequently sit, and lift up to 25 lbs.
• Requires good hand-eye coordination, reach with arms & hands, and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and manipulate (using keyboard, office equipment).
• Visual acuity to use keyboard, operate office equipment, and read printed material and regularly required to talk and hear.
