Horizon Recovery in Phoenix, AZ seeks a Float Outpatient Therapist to provide professional counseling to adolescents and families across PHP, IOP and GOP levels at multiple outpatient centers. You will evaluate needs, develop treatment plans, monitor progress, and document outcomes with the clinical team.

As part of a collaborative treatment setting, you will flexibly cover programs, deliver individual and group therapy, and support families while maintaining high ethical and confidentiality

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology or related field.
  • Valid driver's license and insurable driving record.
  • 21 years of age or older; background checks.
  • Arizona Level 1 IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card or ability to obtain.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in behavioral health.
  • Experience working with adolescents.

Responsibilities

  • Provide therapy for individuals, families and groups in outpatient settings.
  • Conduct PHP, IOP, GOP sessions in-person or via telehealth.
  • Assist with biopsychosocial assessments for PHP/IOP/GOP.

Position Summary

As a float outpatient therapist, you will be responsible for providing professional counseling services to individuals, families, and groups at an Outpatient Treatment Facility. Your primary goal will be to support clients in improving their mental health and well-being by utilizing various therapeutic techniques and interventions. The therapist provides direct support to the clients and the Clinical/Operations Team at the facility. The therapist is responsible forevaluatingneeds,developingtreatmentplansandgoals,monitoringprogress,anddocumentingtheprogressof clients.The therapist will work closely with the treatment team and clinical director in developing customized treatment plans.

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES
Essential Functions
1. Clinical Therapy Services
  • Provide all therapy-related treatment to clients at an Adolescent Outpatient Treatment Facility.
  • Conduct individual and family PHP, IOP, and GOP sessions, as well as PHP, IOP, and GOP group sessions, as needed, in person or via telehealth.
  • Assist with biopsychosocial assessments for PHP, IOP, and GOP as needed, in person and via telehealth.
  • Provide coverage for PHP, IOP, and GOP programming when coworkers are out of office, including but not limited to individual and group therapy sessions and IOP program coverage.
  • Provide flexibility of work schedule to accommodate families' and clients' schedules, such as offering evening appointments Monday through Friday.
2. Treatment Planning and Collaboration
  • Conduct initial assessments, ongoing progress evaluations, and discharge planning for each client.
  • Collaborate closely with the family and guardians of the adolescent client while developing and implementing treatment plans and goals.
  • Ability to set priorities and develop treatment plans in accordance with the master treatment plan goals and Horizon Recovery's policies and procedures.
  • Be flexible in developing treatment plans and utilizing a wide range of therapeutic strategies and styles, depending on unique circumstances and client preferences.
  • Be available to help address unscheduled, urgent needs of clients that may develop.
3. Documentation and Compliance
  • Maintain accurate medical records on each client in accordance with the master treatment plan goals and Horizon Recovery's policies and procedures.
  • Produce timely, complete, accurate, and thorough medical records in the client's EMR.
  • Provide documentation and reports to clinical staff or billing staff when required and necessary.
  • Maintain high standards of ethical and professional conduct and adhere strictly to confidentiality requirements.
  • Comply with all Horizon Recovery policies and procedures.
4. Collaboration and Team Integration
  • Contact the Clinical Director immediately for any significant client event.
  • Collaborate with the Clinical Director and Chief Clinical Officer frequently.
  • Report any unusual client behavior or suspicious activity to the Clinical Director and the Chief Clinical Officer.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and co-workers, maintaining strong interpersonal relationships across the treatment team.
  • Other duties as assigned.
AUTHORITY
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • This role has no direct supervisory authority over staff.
  • The Float Outpatient Therapist operates independently within the clinical scope of their license, under the direction of the Clinical Director, and exercises clinical judgment within established treatment protocols across PHP, IOP, and GOP levels of care.
  • Expected to take initiative in identifying client and family needs across covered programs and escalating significant concerns to Clinical Leadership without delay.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of therapeutic techniques and interventions, and ability to apply them effectively in individual and group settings across PHP, IOP, and GOP levels of care.
  • Ability to be flexible in developing treatment plans and utilizing a wide range of therapeutic strategies and styles, depending on unique circumstances and client preferences.
  • Proven experience conducting therapy sessions with diverse populations and addressing a wide range of mental health concerns.
  • Excellent communication and active listening skills, with the ability to empathize and establish rapport with clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain professional boundaries, confidentiality, and ethical standards.
  • Strong assessment and diagnostic skills to accurately identify client needs and formulate appropriate treatment plans.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and effectively communicate with other healthcare professionals.
  • Proficient computer skills for maintaining electronic records and utilizing therapy-related software.
  • Ability to manage a flexible, floating caseload across multiple programs and locations while maintaining quality and timeliness in treatment planning, session notes, and discharge coordination.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree or higher in Counseling, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field.
  • Valid driver's license and insurable driving record.
  • 21 years of age or older.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check, drug screen, and TB screening per AZDHS and Joint Commission pre-employment requirements.
  • Possess, or have the ability to obtain, a valid Arizona Level 1 IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Minimum of one year of work experience in behavioral health.
  • Work experience with the adolescent population.

  • Active participation in an outpatient behavioral health environment serving adolescents; potential exposure to emotionally dysregulated clients requiring calm, professional response.
  • Must maintain alertness and professional engagement for the full duration of each shift.
