Job summary

Community Medical Services (CMS) is seeking a Substance Abuse Counselor to support patients in outpatient settings who are recovering from opioid and other substance use disorders. You will conduct individual and group sessions, develop treatment plans, and coordinate care with other providers.

The role emphasizes adherence to regulatory standards, cultural sensitivity, and ongoing professional development within an equal opportunity environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with 360 hours of substance use disorder education.
• Licensure: SAC-IT, SAC, CSAC or LPC-IT, LPC, LMFT, APSW, LCSW (one of these).
• Experience in outpatient behavioral health or counseling preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and manage a caseload in compliance with state ratios and regulations.
• Conduct individual sessions and facilitate group counseling and didactic education.
• Complete behavioral health assessments and individualized treatment plans.
• Evaluate treatment effectiveness and adjust service plans as needed.
• Coordinate care with recovery and community-based providers; document referrals.
• Involve family and natural supports per client preference.
• Maintain thorough client records and stay up to date with practice developments.
