Job summary

Ochsner Health in New Orleans is seeking a Therapy Aide to support licensed physical or occupational therapists in delivering modality treatments and patient care. You will prepare treatment areas, transport patients by wheelchair or stretcher, and help maintain a safe, clean environment in the therapy space.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, some healthcare coursework preferred, and willingness to travel between facilities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Preferred: some college coursework in healthcare sciences.
• 5 years relevant experience or pursuing education in a clinical program (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Prepares and maintains work area for treatment including ordering of supplies/linen and pharmaceuticals.
• Orients and mentors new staff in needs of assigned area.
• Monitors and assists in patient-care as specifically instructed by the therapist according to their competencies.
• Assists with generalized office and front desk procedures.
• Transports patients to and from department or room via wheelchair or stretcher.
• Adapts behavior to the patient population and privacy requirements.
• Performs other related duties as required.
