Job summary

MercyOne Des Moines Endoscopy is seeking an outpatient RN for our Endoscopy unit in Des Moines. Schedule: PRN, Office Hours: M-F 7:00a - 5:00p; No weekends or holidays.

Responsibilities include preparing outpatients, IV skills, chart review, and assisting physicians with endoscopy procedures. Requires Iowa RN license, BLS, ACLS within 6 months, EMR proficiency, and English literacy.

Qualifications

• RN license required for Iowa or compact state.
• BLS certification within 6 weeks of hire.
• ACLS certification within 6 months of hire.
• Proficiency with EMR documentation and basic computer skills.
• English language reading/writing/speaking required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and evaluate outpatients prior to procedures.
• Maintain safe environment and patient flow.
• Perform IV skills and routine pre-procedure tasks.
• Review charts and ensure documentation completeness.
• Assist physicians in endoscopy procedures and setup rooms.

We are looking to hire a outpatient RN for our MercyOne Des Moines Endoscopy.

General Requirements

• Prepares and evaluates outpatients prior to the procedure in an efficient and caring manner to provide for a smooth patient flow. May include doing pre-procedure phone calls to patients and/or physician offices to obtain information.
• Demonstrates the ability to organize work and enhance the safety and quality of patient care, service and treatment.
• Proficient in IV skills.
• Review charts to ensure completeness in documentation.
• Prepares for cases in an efficient manner, anticipating needs of the patient and physician.
• Provides a safe environment for customers: patient, family, physicians and staff.
• Collects and analyzes data and assesses patient in developing nursing diagnosis / plan of care.
• Communicates effectively with the patient, staff, physicians, families, and other health care team members.
• Maintains knowledge of equipment set-up and function.
• Initiates and directs procedure rooms, clean up and turnover.
• EKG interpretation.
• Ongoing physiological assessment through all phases of the Endoscopy experience.
• Utilize computer software for electronic medical record documentation (EMR).
• Actively assists physicians in a large variety of endoscopy procedures.
• Helpful if familiar with ProVation RN & MD.

Education

• Possession of a current or compact state license as a registered nurse issued/defined by the State of Iowa.
• Basic Life Support certified within six (6) weeks of hire.
• Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers Basic computer knowledge including Microsoft office products.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certified or obtained within six (6) months of hire.
• Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population served within three (3) months of hire.
• Ability to read, write and speak English language.
