Job summary

Physical Therapist Assistant – Outpatient in Ithaca, NY is seeking a dedicated PTA to provide skilled therapy under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist and help implement individualized treatment plans for patients.

Requires an Associate's degree from an accredited PTA program, NY licensure or eligibility, CPR certification, and annual safety trainings. Outpatient experience is preferred; local travel may be needed.

Qualifications

• Accredited PTA program completion with an Associate's degree.
• Current New York State PTA license or eligibility.
• CPR certification.
• Annual safety in-services and HealthStream trainings.
• Outpatient experience preferred; new graduates may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Provide skilled physical therapy under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist.
• Assist with implementing treatment plans addressing each patient's goals and functional needs.
• Instruct and assist patients with therapeutic exercises, functional activities, gait training, balance activities, and ADLs.
• Assist patients in the safe use of assistive devices and orthotic supports.
• Administer physical therapy modalities as directed by the Physical Therapist.
• Document patient responses and progress in the EMR and report changes to the supervising PT.
• Communicate progress to the Physical Therapist and help modify the treatment plan as needed.
• Participate in discharge planning and reinforce home exercise programs.
• Educate patients and families on exercises, safety, mobility, and home program continuation.
• Maintain compliance with NYS requirements, facility policies, and safety standards.
