Job summary

Yale New Haven Health is seeking a Phlebotomist to perform venipuncture and support Lab Blood Draw Station operations at draw locations. You will interact with patients, ensure proper labeling, collect specimens, and follow safety and privacy rules.

Responsibilities include reviewing insurance information, registering patients in the EMR, coordinating specimen transport, and ensuring ABNs and pre-authorizations are in place before collection.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Phlebotomy certification or equivalent required.
• Six months phlebotomy experience or completion of accredited program and internship.
• Two to three years in a customer service environment, preferably hospital/physician office.

Responsibilities

• Perform phlebotomy for patients at draw station locations and support Lab Blood Draw operations.
• Review insurance information and register patients in the EMR.
• Communicate test orders and patient instructions, ensuring accuracy and privacy.
• Ensure ABNs, pre-authorizations, and pre-certifications are in place prior to specimen collection.
• Label specimens legibly, prep for transport, and maintain compliant documentation.
• Maintain compliance with HIPAA, JCAHO, and related guidelines.
