Job summary

Orthopedic Institute PC in Mitchell, SD, seeks an RN, LPN, or CMA to join our outpatient orthopedic and sports medicine team. You will support providers in delivering efficient, patient-centered musculoskeletal care in a clinic setting on a Monday–Friday, 8 AM–5 PM schedule.

You will perform direct patient care, clinical support, and coordinate services, with responsibilities including patient prep, histories, injections, education, and care coordination. BLS and licensure requirements apply.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited RN, LPN or Certified Medical Assistant program.
• If licensed, must have a current, unencumbered RN or LPN license in SD and MN (or eligibility to obtain).
• Current BLS certification (or ability to obtain within timeframe).
• Prior experience in orthopedic/surgical/specialty clinic preferred; strong musculoskeletal interest.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team, communicate effectively with patients and colleagues, and provide compassionate, professional care.
• Comfort with electronic medical records and basic computer applications.

Responsibilities

• Greet, room, and prepare patients for orthopedic visits, ensuring comfort, privacy, and a smooth flow of clinic schedules.
• Obtain and document patient histories, medications, allergies, pain scores, and vital signs in the EMR.
• Assist providers with examinations and in-office procedures, including injections and wound care.
• Administer medications, vaccines, and injections per provider order and in accordance with nursing standards and policies.
• Provide patient education regarding treatment plans, post-visit instructions, medications, and follow-up care.
• Support care coordination by scheduling follow-up appointments, imaging, therapy, and referrals as directed.
• Maintain a clean and safe clinical environment, including exam room turnover and infection prevention practices.
• Document all care provided and follow HIPAA, OSHA, and organizational policies.
