Job summary

BJC HealthCare in Saint Louis, MO seeks an Outpatient Oncology Pharmacy Specialist to ensure safe, effective use of oncology therapy and to collaborate with the care team to optimize patient outcomes.

You will develop treatment plans, educate patients, monitor therapy, and document all activities. This role includes mentoring staff and contributing to cost-reduction and research initiatives.

Qualifications

• Doctorate in Pharmacy (PharmD) required.
• PGY1 residency required; PGY2 in oncology/ambulatory preferred.
• Experience level: < 2 years; 2–5 years preferred.
• Licensed and certified in Medication Therapy Services (MORPh).
• Must be available Monday–Friday (day shift).
• Ability to work with physicians, nurses and patients.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe and effective use of oncology therapy.
• Collaborate with nurses, oncologists, and other providers to optimize care.
• Manage drug-drug interactions and monitor therapy goals.
• Develop treatment plans for oncology patients.
• Educate patients on medications and chemotherapy plans.
• Assess patient health status and evaluate medication profiles.
• Document activities and communications thoroughly.
• Participate in professional development and research.
• Contribute to performance improvement and drug use evaluation.
• Mentor pharmacy staff, residents and students.
• Identify and implement cost-reduction programs.
