Job summary

UTMB Health – Clear Lake Orthopedics is seeking a Medical Assistant I. Responsibilities include facilitating patient flow in an outpatient clinic, obtaining vitals, documenting chief complaints, and assisting with treatments and procedures under physician direction.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, CPR, and a Certified or Registered Medical Assistant credential or completion of an approved MA program. The role is on-site, with standard clinic hours.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current Certified or Registered Medical Assistant credential.
• Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program.

Responsibilities

• Assists with patient flow in the outpatient clinic.
• Obtains vital signs and documents chief complaint and reason for visit.
• Performs technical and supportive patient care, including aseptic techniques and infection control.
• Collects specimens and draws blood as required.
• Prepares and assists with treatments and procedures.
• Document interventions concisely in the patient chart and communicate with the health care team.
• Maintain clean and safe environment and manage supplies and equipment.
