Job summary

DeKalb Health in Safford, AZ is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant to perform clinical and administrative duties under supervision. You will prepare exam rooms, collect patient data, and assist with injections while supporting administrative tasks such as phone calls and insurance authorizations.

The role requires a Medical Assistant certificate, CPR certification, and 0–2 years of clinical experience, with immunization skills and AIISIS documentation experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High school education or equivalent.
• Current Medical Assistant certificate of proficiency from an accredited Medical Assistant program
• Maintains current CPR Certification from the American Heart Association (Healthcare Provider) or other approved educational programs.
• 0-2 years of clinical experience
• Current Arizona Department of Public Safety fingerprint clearance card (new hires must complete the application process for this card before being released to their department)
• Must be comfortable with giving immunizations and performing venipuncture.
• Must have experience in documenting in AIISIS, if applicable.
• Must have experience in obtaining prior authorizations for medications.
• Must be pleasant and comfortable with making patient calls for follow-up appointments and results.
• Must be a self-starter, not requiring direction or micro-management.
• Able to deal with the public in a compassionate, high paced environment.
• Must have the mental and physical ability to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation, the essential functions of the job.

Responsibilities

• Clinical duties include delegated medical functions under the direction of the Director of Outpatient Nursing and Wound Care.
• Prepare exam rooms and patients for examination by the provider, collect records and obtain patient history, vital signs and relevant data.
• May administer injections or provide treatments under provider direction.
• Administrative duties include answering phone calls, greeting patients/family members, obtaining insurance authorizations, making referrals and other support functions as directed.
