Job summary

Orange County Surgical Center in Irvine, CA is seeking a motivated LVN to join our outpatient surgical team. You will assist pre- and post-op patients, monitor vitals, and support the procedure room with sterile techniques.

Responsibilities include patient education, charting, and coordinating with the inventory manager. Candidates must have California LVN license, IV and BLS certifications, and strong communication.

Qualifications

• Must hold an LVN license in California.
• Minimum of two years clinical experience in critical care, interventional radiology, or medical/surgical settings.
• IV certification required; BLS certification required.
• Basic computer skills including MS Word.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide pre- and post-op patient care, including IV insertion, paperwork, education, and discharge instructions.
• Monitor patient vitals during procedures (HR, BP, O2Sat, EKG).
• Assist in procedure room setup and maintain sterile techniques; support pre-/post-procedures and discharge assessment.
• Assist recovery room care after vascular and venous procedures; support patient turnover.
• Maintain accurate patient records and assist inventory management as needed.
• Attend team meetings and adhere to guidelines, policies, and confidentiality requirements.

GENERAL PURPOSE

We are looking for a motivated LVN to join our team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties and responsibilities generally reflect the expectations of this position, but are not intended to be all-inclusive

• Pre & post op patients, including IV insertion, pre & post op paperwork, patient education, and discharge instructions.
• Monitor patient vitals (HR, BP, O2Sat, EKG) during procedures
• Assist in venouse procedure room preparation; maintain sterile techniques in the procedure room; assist with pre- and post-procedures, including assessment of discharge
• Assist in recovery room patient care following vascular procedures and venous procedures
• Assist in patient bay turnover
• Gather patient clinical information prior to procedures, including patient assessments and patient history
• Keep clear and accurate patient medical records
• Assist the inventory manager in maintaining the inventory count
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned, including but not limited to:
  • Attend team meetings, phone conferences, and training as needed
  • Know, understand, and follow teammate guidelines, employment policies, and procedures

• Consistent, regular, punctual attendance as scheduled is an essential responsibility of this position
• Oversee and manage the Environment of Care reporting binder for our sites' accreditation

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

(Education, licenses, certifications, and experience required to fulfill the essential duties, including computer skills as required)

• Current LVN license in the state of practice is required
• Minimum of two (2) years’ clinical experience in critical care, interventional radiology, or medical/surgical required
• IV certification
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Basic computer skills and proficiency in MS Word required

• The ability to understand clinical/medical vocabulary written or spoken in English is required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Physical requirements can vary. These must be reviewed with management. In general, the position requires the following physical activities:

• Ability to lift a minimum of 5 pounds to a maximum of 35 pounds unassisted; able to stand for extended periods of time and to perform repetitive stooping, walking, stretching, reaching, with some sitting; full range of body motions required to lift patients, wear a lead apron, and lift supplies
• Manual dexterity and the ability to work rapidly are required
• Ability to perform patient transfers and positioning of patients up to 200 pounds unassisted; seek assistance for any patient over 200 pounds
• Ability to lift and move patient transport devices
• Ability to push/pull up to 50 pounds
