Job summary

JPS Health Network in Fort Worth, TX is seeking a Part Time Dietitian – Outpatient to deliver nutritional education and care to assigned patient populations at John Peter Smith Hospital. You will screen patients for nutritional risk and develop care plans with a patient-centered approach.

You will document in the electronic medical record, collaborate with physicians and the care team, and stay current with nutrition guidelines and regulations. Hours are 8am–4pm.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in nutrition and dietetics from an accredited college or university.
• Registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (or Registry eligible with registration acquired within 90 days of employment).
• Licensed by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Dietitians within 6 months of employment.
• ACEND-accredited dietetics program completion (for non-nutrition degree holders).

Responsibilities

• Instructs, educates, and counsels with patients and their significant others in nutritional therapy and develops individualized care plans in accordance with the patients disease state, nutritional status, physical, emotional and social needs.
• Documents pertinent objective and subjective data pertaining to patient status and care in the electronic medical record.
• Screens patients for nutritional risk. Assesses and reassesses nutritional status of patients and develops nutritional care plans in accordance with patient preferences, age, disease state, and resources.
• Prioritizes patient care activities, and implements or recommends appropriate changes to improve practice protocols and clinical practice guidelines and schedules follow up assessments and appointments at appropriate intervals to monitor progress.
• Consults with physicians and other members of the interdisciplinary care team. Serves as a nutritional resource person to other health care professionals, interns, trainees, community civic groups, media, etc.
• Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations and policies that impact and govern dietetic practice and conducts in-services, authors publications, conducts research to contribute to the education and understanding of the science of nutrition.

Education
