Job summary

Fresenius Kidney Care in Missouri is seeking an entry-level Registered Nurse for the Outpatient RN CAP 1 track. You will provide assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation for a group of dialysis patients under supervision.

You will work with RNs, LVN/LPNs and Patient Care Technicians, participate in education and quality-improvement activities, and complete CAP requirements to advance.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Current appropriate state licensure.
• Current or successful CPR BLS Certification.
• Must meet the practice requirements in the state in which employed.
• Entry level for RNs with less than 2 years of Nephrology Nursing experience.
• Chronic/acute hemodialysis experience (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Performs all essential functions under the direction of the Supervisor and with guidance from the Clinical Educator, Preceptor or in collaboration with other Registered Nurses.
• Performs ongoing, systematic collection and analysis of patient data pre - during - post hemodialysis treatment and documents in the patient medical record, adjusting the plan as indicated.
• Educates patients and families on treatment options and self-care needs.
• Directs and provides, in collaboration with direct and ancillary staff, safe and effective delivery of hemodialysis therapy.
• Administers medications as prescribed or per approved algorithms and documents outcomes.
• Initiates or assists with emergency response measures.
• Serves as a resource and participates in staff training and orientation.
• Ensures proper lab collection, processing, and shipping and reschedules missed collections.
• Updates nursing assessment and care plans in collaboration with the Interdisciplinary Team.
• Explains transplant and treatment modality options to patients.
