Job summary

Yale NewHaven Health seeks an Audiologist to assess, diagnose, and manage hearing and balance disorders in a hospital/outpatient setting in Connecticut. You will supervise support staff, develop individualized care plans, and provide counseling on hearing amplification devices and communication strategies.

The role requires CT licensure in Audiology, CCC certification, and at least 2–4 years of clinical experience depending on level, with a strong emphasis on patient-centered care and

Qualifications

  • CCC in Audiology (ASHA) credential.
  • State of Connecticut Audiology licensure; BLS required.
  • Master's level degree in Audiology (M.A./M.S./M.Ed.).

Responsibilities

  • Provide screening, assessment, diagnosis and habilitation/rehabilitation of auditory disorders.
  • Administer and interpret behavioral, electroacoustic and electrophysiologic measures with calibrated equipment.
  • Evaluate, fit and counsel on amplification devices including hearing aids and assistive listening devices.
  • Educate patients and families about hearing loss and device use and outcomes.
  • Develop and document a care plan with patient and interdisciplinary team; revise as needed.
  • Participate in performance improvement and risk management activities.
  • Serve as a preceptor to new staff; complete required training and education.

Works Under The Supervision Of The Manager/Clinical Coordinator. The Audiologist Assesses, Plans, Implements, Evaluates And Supervises Individual Patient Care According To Professional Standards And Departmental Policies And Procedures. Provides Direction Of Support Personnel In The Assigned Area. Delegates And Supervises Area Activities. May Be Required To Work In Other Areas According To Distribution Of Staff And Patients. Performs Other Duties As Assigned Or Requested In Order To Maintain A High Level Of Service.

Responsibilities
  • 1.Provides Screening, Identification, Assessment And Interpretation, Diagnosis And Habilitation/Rehabilitation Of Disorders Of The Peripheral And Central Auditory System (Auditory And Vestibular Function).
  • 2.Administers And Interprets Behavioral, Electroacoustic And Electrophysiologic Measures Of The Peripheral And Central Auditory Systems, Using Standardized Testing Procedures And Appropriately Calibrated Instrumentation.
  • 3.Evaluates And Fits Amplification Devices, Including Hearing Aids And Assistive Listening Devices, Determining The Appropriateness Of Amplification Systems For Persons With Hearing Impairment, Evaluating Their Benefit And Providing Counseling And Education Regarding Their Use.
  • 4.Provides Education, Support, Counseling And Resources Regarding Hearing Loss, The Use Of Hearing Prosthetic Devices And Strategies For Improving Speech Recognition, The Effects Of Hearing Loss On Communication And Psychosocial Status In Personal, Social And Vocational Areas.
  • 5.Develops, Communicates, Implements, Coordinates And Documents A Plan Of Care Reflecting Individualized Patient Problems And Interventions To Achieve Desired Outcomes, Involving The Patient, Family And Interdisciplinary Healthcare Or Educational Team In This Process. Revises The Plan Of Care As Needed And Makes Referrals Where Indicated.
  • 6.Participates In And Supports Performance Improvement And Risk Management Activities.
  • 7.Functions As A Preceptor To New Staff.
  • 8.Completes Required Training And Education, Including Department/Unit Specific Requirements

Qualifications

EDUCATION

M.A., M.S., Or M.Ed. In Audiology

EXPERIENCE

Previous Experience In Hospital Or Outpatient Based Facility Helpful. Level Ii-Minimum Of 2 Years Previous Clinical Experience. Level Iii-Minimum Of 4 Years Clinical Experience And Maintenance Of Level Ii Criteria For Minimum 2 Years.

LICENSURE

State Of Connecticut, Department Of Health (Division Of Medical Quality Assurance)- Audiology. BLS Required.

SPECIAL SKILLS
