Job summary

Legacy seeks a dependable Scrap Metal Processor to join our outdoor yard team. You will assist customers, sort metal by type, and prepare materials for processing using heavy equipment such as balers, forklifts, and torches.

This full-time role requires 40+ hours weekly, outdoors in all weather, with safety as a priority. Candidates should have good communication skills, reliability, and the ability to work independently or in a team; OSHA familiarity preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
• Must have steel-toe boots.
• Able to work 40+ hours per week, with overtime as needed.
• Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions for extended periods.
• Able to lift, move, and handle heavy materials as needed.
• Comfortable standing for long periods in loud environments.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Able to follow verbal directions and work independently or as part of a team.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Familiarity with OSHA safety standards preferred.
• Previous customer service or scrap metal experience helpful, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers with unloading scrap metal from vehicles and trailers.
• Sort scrap metal by type and place materials in the correct yard locations.
• Prepare metals for processing using equipment such as balers, shears, forklifts, telehandlers, wire strippers, torches, and plasma cutters.
• Sweep, shovel, blow, and perform general yard and equipment clean-up.
• Weigh materials on the scale and complete customer tickets as needed.
• Prepare vehicles for processing, including trash removal, designated part removal, and fluid removal/reclaiming.
• Work safely in a fast-paced outdoor environment.
