Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) seeks a Coordinator I—Outdoor Recreation for Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, CA.

This role leads ASI Poly Escapes programs including Climbing Park, Rental Center, and Trips, with emphasis on risk management, budget oversight, student staff leadership, and gear inventory to provide safe, engaging outdoor experiences for students. Qualifications include a four-year college degree (or equivalent), Wilderness First Aid/CPR within 60 days, and 3–5 years of outdoor program

Qualifications

• Minimum three years of related outdoor program coordination experience (five years preferred).
• Two years coordinating outdoor trips with safety and risk management protocols.
• Experience with budgeting, fiscal management, and supervision.

Responsibilities

• Directly supervise the Student Manager—Poly Escapes, Trip Leaders, Climbing Park Supervisors, and other staff.
• Oversee ASI Poly Escapes programs (Climbing Park, Rental Center, Trips) and ensure safety and policy alignment.
• Plan calendars, coordinate trip logistics, training, and leadership development.
• Conduct ongoing risk assessments, respond to incidents, and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Develop budgets, monitor expenditures, and manage inventory and purchasing.
• Promote collaboration with campus partners and support program assessment and improvement.
